Happy Weekend

Enjoy your weekend

I have so much planned for this weekend.

I am praying that everything will run smoothly and that everyone will have a blast.

I am also praying that you have the best weekend ever.

Let go of your troubles and live large.

Hug, kiss, laugh, dance, or d whatever makes your heart sing.

Enjoy yourselves people!

I hope to hear of it on Monday.

I want to cheer you up

So this weekend was cool, nothing much to do except laundry!
Got that done on Saturday and then just kind of went along with the swing of life.
I was saddened by the news of the killings in Connecticut, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
Though far away, am praying for all the affected families and the human race as a whole.
Moving on, since most of you are experiencing winter right now, I thought I would just offer some contrast.
I wanted to share pictures of the green environment and the beautiful sunshine around these parts.
The clear blue skies are also pretty!
These are some of the little things we forget to appreciate!
Be thankful for what you have!
I hope these pictures cheer someone up and make their day a little bit easier.

I took some of these in my mom-in-laws garden. #love the pawpaws. Cant wait for them to be ready.
I wish you all a lovely week ahead and live your life, don’t wait for tomorrow!

Weekend and Mandazi

Have you ever had a weekend where you did nothing worth noting but it was still so perfect…
From having fun doing laundry to going to the salon for hair and nails, to meeting a high school friend for drinks to having a perfect evening with hubby!!!
What better Saturday could I ask for?
Then Sunday came and I was all alone since hubz has had to work weekends for the past 3 weeks, (by the way, I don’t like it, at all…thank God, its just one more left).
I spent the morning doing some crochet, then decided to make some mandazi since hubby cant get enough of them!

For those who dont know mandazi is one of East Africa’s favorite snack…we take it with tea/coffee for breakfast or as a midday snack (more like doughnuts but deep fried). I do love cooking but I’ve had some cooking tragedies in the past week (more on that later) and I really hoped that these would turn out well…..Oh and well they did!!!
(I hope to draft and post the recipe soon)

I love the way they turned out! These are some of the things I wish I could do each weekend.
Especially when the house is calm and quiet, soft rock serenading me and am just at peace!!!
This was a nice weekend and am so thankful for it.
Hope yours was great too!!

My weekend has been super busy. I’ve not even had time to settle down and blog.
Anyway, am back and I’ve missed you all so much.
This is how my weekend was:
-I was called for an interview and spent a large part of the day there [hope it goes well]
-Went to see my newest nephew [Miguel]
-Completed some work
-Did laundry
-Slept really late in the company of hubby’s family
-Some airport business to take care of..
-was a little sad
-Slept really early coz I was extremely exhausted

As you can see, the details of my weekend are really scanty but it was a good one. I just hope that yours was good too.
And to cap it all, here is a picture of me and my nephew Miguel (that name is really awesome, right?)

                                                                  Have a fabulous week!

My weekend and a Mantra

I don’t want to talk about my weekend, not because it was not good but because it was so touching.
This weekend, my belief in goodness of the humankind was restored.
I found out that there people out there who care, people who are truly generous.
People who do not care who is watching, or what popularity they will gain.
I believe that there are truly amazing people in this world.
On Saturday, we had an event where we were asking for help. We did not know how the event would turn out because we were not even sure that people would come. But, to our surprise, it was a successful event, even more successful than we all imagined.
Our entire family was so touched and we are now only beginning to understand the kind of love that was showered upon us on Saturday.
I might not be able to share the details here but I just want to let you know that in this world, there are people with big hearts. People who are not always noticed but people who deserve to be noticed.
On that note, I would love to appreciate everyone who showed up, everyone who called or texted and everyone who is praying with us. I also appreciate those who had the will to help but couldn’t due to one thing or the other!
I am amazed by the kindness and generosity of all of you!
So, today I leave you with one quote that sums up what I feel today!
Those who came to help us, came with all of their hearts and I hope that wherever you go, you go with all of your hearts.

Live this week with all of your heart!Much Love and Appreciation!

Weekend Update

Hi lovely people!!Its a new week and am loving it already. But not as much as I loved this weekend. This was a truly nice weekend and I only wish that every weekend could be like this one.
Saturday, I spent the morning doing laundry and the whole afternoon doing this:

Crochet {will fill you in as the week goes by}

and this:
Catching up on Royal Pains.

In the evening, I was really feeling like going dancing or doing something fun for the night. Little did I know that hubby and his friend had the exact plans.
So, at round 9.30 p.m, we all went out and had serious fun. I can’t begin to tell you how awesome that night was. We danced and made fun of ourselves and just had a good time.
Got home at around 5 in the morning and slept until 3 PM. I can’t tell you how that happened but seems like dancing is a recipe for lots of sleeping.
Then on Sunday evening, Manchester United won 3-2 against Chelsea which was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend.
This tree is kind of cute and very shapely too, (just outside where we live)

 Beautiful skies
This other tree is in full bloom, all flowery and cute
Hope you enjoyed your weekend and wishing you a fabulous week!

Weekend Update

So, how are you?
How was your weekend?
Fun??Hope so! Mine too.
To say the least, I had a nice weekend.
On Saturday, I did the laundry in the morning and cleaned up the house a little. Ok, not so fun.
Then in the afternoon, we went to visit my sister-in-law, mother to Leon (my nephew) who was feeling a little under the weather.
Am happy to report that he is feeling better and was very playful. He is so adorable and I do enjoy spending time with him and the entire family.
Sunday, we went to visit my mother in law. I do really adore that woman. I love that she has taken me as her own. I love that she appreciates me. I appreciate her, so very much. I just pray that God sends lots of health her way coz I hate to see her sad or sick!
Came back to our house on Sunday evening and that’s my weekend in summary.
Oh, and I did find some yarn and crochet and more on that will come later.

Words guiding me this week..

Crazy Weekend Update

Lets see where this goes…
Have you ever felt like you were going crazy?? Yeah, me too.
I felt like that most of last week and most of the weekend too…
Anyway, I spent way too much of my weekend working, no wonder I feel like am going crazy
I took up a challenge on Friday for a certain client and promised him I would be through with his work by Saturday evening.
Oh yes I did accomplish the task but………..I was extremely tired
Am still tired.
I did not even get time to idle with my brother who came to visit on Saturday
Anyway, through God’s grace I made it through and am trusting on the same grace to get through this week
Sunday, I did some laundry, went to the salon and just had enough time to catch up with How I met your Mother and Grey’s Anatomy (new seasons).

By the way, am in the market for new addictive shows to obsess over…. Any suggestions???
By the way I’ve been telling myself this weekend that things will be ok and I do really hope that they will.
Oh, and lastly, am happy because my sister got a job but am also sad coz she has to move away from me..I was getting used to having her around.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and wish you a fabulous week.

Am having Teenage Problems + some Kikuyu Culture

We need to get something straight before we even start this post….am 25. Right?
Did we get that right?? In fact, I consider myself quite mature and progressive about life but am kinda having some teenage problems. But first, the weekend update…
So, this weekend was pretty fun and pretty busy but also pretty nice.
Lets just say it was pretty.
As a matter of fact, it started on Friday evening.
Hubz cousin 9my cousin in law was having her dowry ceremony (‘uthoni’ in Kikuyu culture) on Saturday and I had to be there for her.
So, I packed my bags and went to her house on Friday evening.
Saturday was a beehive of activity. Lots of cooking and cleaning as we expected more than 100 guests.
It was a fun day really.
For those who don’t understand, let me just break it down for you a little.
[In the Kikuyu culture, actually in most African cultures, when a girl finds a husband or decides to get married/cohabit, her b/f/fiancee must go to her parents home together with his parents to officially meet her side of the family. If the girl is already living the boyfriend or is pregnant, there is also a discussion about that. In addition to that, there is dowry given to the girl’s family as agreed by the two families. There is also fun, lots of eating and partying.]
Hope that helps. Moving on to my teenage problems…
You know how I have said many times on this blog that am tiny??? My problems are related to that.
Am short, like 5’0’…is that too short??And am also kinda skinny, just kinda.
Anyway, some boys decided to confuse me with a high-school student and started hitting on me! Like seriously??
And I don’t mean, ‘boys’ in a nice way, like really young teenage boys…..
It sometimes drives me crazy but it is also a source of laughter between me and hubz. He thinks its hilarious since some of them even approach him asking for help on how they can get me. Shock on them.
Anyway, just asking, what do you do in such a situation??
Flirt with the boy and give him crazy signs while laughing it off with hubby OR tell him off outright and make it clear that you are a mature, married woman with no intentions of having a teenage boy toy???
Tell me people, I need help….   Or should I just eat myself fat and grow big so that people stop confusing me with schoolgirls?? Consider that I have already accepted the fact that I will never grow tall…
