Hiking Mt.Kilimambogo: A Visit to Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park

Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park

Last weekend was awesome! #tembeaKenya

In line with my word for the year, you can read all about that HERE, I am trying to find things that give me joy in everyday life. Honestly, sometimes it is a bit difficult to be joyful when you’ve been down with a load of infections and a bad cold. However, being the positive person I am, I decided to take on something new.

I decided to take on a mountain!!!Whooooa!!What a freaking crazy way to find joy!!

When the opportunity to visit Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park, while hiking the scenic Mt.Kilimambogo came along, I hopped on it without even thinking twice. Add hubby into the mix, and awesome company of people I have never met before, it was the perfect thing to do on a sunny Saturday.

When we first got to the Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park, I was super surprised at how tall the mountain looked. I was instantly scared, but I am not one to give up. So, up we went, trekking the trails of the mountain of buffaloes (That’s Mt.Kilimambogo’s nickname).

Honestly, it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. The first footpath up the mountain was the hardest for me. I was sweating and my heart was beating out of my chest. But soon my body started adjusting and I started moving faster and it felt so good.

Reaching the summit was the best part of the day. Little did I know that the trek downhill would be so very difficult.

I am still sore from that hike, but it was such a beautiful and peaceful time. You should definitely try hiking as a way of finding joy and just calming down, while taking a look at beautiful views.

For now..Enjoy the pictures.

My guiding word for 2016: JOY

Happy New Year friends!

I know. It’s already the 13th of January and things are picking up pretty fast in the New Year. I hope you and your families are doing well and that everything is going as you want it to.

Now, we have all been taught to make resolutions when starting a New Year. Resolutions are merely the goals and objectives that we want to achieve in the New Year. However, most people forget about their resolutions within a week, with only a handful of people accomplishing what they set out in January.

I find some resolutions to be too vague, yet I like to be specific. In order to increase my chances of success in the New Year, I adopted a concept that I learned from my fellow bloggers a few years back.

It’s pretty simple. At the beginning of the year, you choose a word that will be a reminder of what you want to achiee throughout the year.

The beauty in his process is that one word is easier to remember and focus on as opposed to a myriad of resolutions. Don’t get me wrong, I still make a list of goals and objectives(In fact, am planning to do a post on this later thi week), but they are all guided by my word for the year.

In many cases, I start thinking about my word around Christmas, and it eventually comes to me by the start of the year.

My word for 2016 is JOY.

JOYI have been thinking a lot about my life over the holidays, and the different roles I play in this world. I have also been really focusing on finding myself again, and thinking about the things I would love to do this year to enrichmy life and find more happiness.

Joy basically means great pleasure, delight, immene happiness, bliss and gladness.

Now, who wouldn’t want more of that in their life.

I purposefull intend to participate in activities that bring me joy, and dissasociate myself from things that rob me of my precious joy. I know this will take purposed and deliberate actions from my part and am willing to do the work.

This will mean saying no to some things and some people, as well as saying yes to some things that I might have been afraid to try out.

Choosing this word means that whenevr am faced with a sticky situation, I might have to ask whether that particular thing or person brings me joy. The answer will determine how I move forward.

Joy. I intend to find it in everything I do this year.

If you were to choose just one word to describe your focus or attitude this year, what would it be. This practice has been superbly helpful to me and I definitely think that you should try it.

One word. JOY.

To Flow like a River

Hi lovely people!Hope the weekend treated you really fine as it did me. I spent time with my deraly missed and beloved family and I can totally say the homesickness is gone. It was like a flu that just had to be cured. Anyway, now that we are on to Tuesday, time to start thinking about more serious matters and about life in general.
In my life, I have reached points where I just felt like I was stuck. You know, life is like a journey and we sometimes reach points in the journey that are a little difficult and we miss the flow. Today, I just want to acknowledge that sometimes, I think that such points are totally pointless and aim at just making it difficult for us. However, on further analysis, I think that such sticky points help us appreciate the good stuff. We also learn an awful lot of things at such points. I do think its good to appreciate these sticky points.

But, more importantly, it is great to appreciate the people, ideas, books, movies, article or thoughts that help usget back to the flow. For example, when I feel stuck emotionally, watching a funny or romantic movie almost always helps me get back to the flow. For others, reading or writing does help in getting back to the smooth ride.
I just want to ask you to identify what helps you get you back to the flow. When you identify these things, it becomes easier for you to get back to a place of smoothness and harmony.

Above all, I wish you all as much flow as I wish on myself. I wish your life flows like a river. That it keeps going and when you get stuck, it is easy for you to get back on the journey. And that your life remains smooth and harmonious. Like a waterfall, easy and always flowing!

Its OK
..To be totally exhausted by the end of each day
…To snooze the alarm for just ten more minutes

The Magic of Life

One thing i have noticed lately is that am so into having an amazing life. If you have been reading my blog, then you know am a firm believer in positivity and optimism. I actually really do not see the point of living life being a pessimist and labeling it as realism. I think that is just an excuse to not be happy and make your life and other people’s life miserable.
Life is meant to be magical (in whatever cliche ways that you might think of).

Whether magical to you means, finding the man/girl of your life, getting married to them and having kids: life is meant to be that way. Whether magical to you means travelling to different places, experiencing people and cultures of all kinds, life is actually meant to be that way. Whatever magical means to you, thats the way your life is meant to be.

Before i go any further, i would like to recommend that you look for “THE POWER”, a book by Rhonda Byrne and read it as fast as you can. It will surely change the way you see life and how you actually live it.

For me, magical means having a job that is flexible, fun and filled with play, laughter and jokes. Magical means that money is no object to me and that i live life not based on the amount of money i have but based on what i want and what i enjoy. Magical means a beautiful proposal and a beautiful wedding with Mr b/f, with all my family and friends watching. Magical means the Nikon L120 camera being mine.
Magical means laughter, joy, happiness, smiles, play, music, color, dance, great food, fabulous fashion, art, lots of love and endless beauty.

I give you love and hope that you realize the magic of your own life.
Kisses lots and lots of Love.
