Yarn Along: What I've been upto

Last week I did not post my updates and adventures with yarn.
But this week, I made sure to take pictures so I could show you what going on here.
I can totally say that am in love with crocheting.
This little hobby that I discovered many years ago but only decided to work on a few months ago.
I absolutely love it people.
I dont know what it is but I love crochet.
I cant get enough yarn and I keep looking for more projects to immerse my hands into.
Onto the projects:
I started this small ripple blanket and am working on it slowly..no hurry. Its my go to project when I have nothing else to crochet.

Next up: my first cowl/infinity scarf.

Lets just be honest, I always wanted one but I was too lazy to make it.
Now I did one and I cannot get enough.
I wore it Yesterday when it was raining hard and the cold was biting.
Am now making larger ones, that wrap around the neck at-least once or twice.
Some people have asked some questions about what I make and now am dreaming of opening an etsy shop [encouragement would be highly appreciated]
Anyway, on Thursday am off to celebrate my sister’s graduation. Lots of traveling, then I get to go to my parents for Christmas and am so excited.
It is truly the season to be happy and jolly.
Hope you are having lots of fun and preparing for Christmas…lots of food, laughter and overall joy!
Love you loves!

Yarn Along:Crochet Basket

I feel so bad right now….I’ve become a pretty terrible blogger lately!
I was a little busy over the weekend!
I went to my parents on Saturday and I only came back Yesterday!
Not much blogging could get done considering I was loving the whole spending time with family thing!
Anyway, am back…
On that note, not much crocheting has been going down over the past week but I still have something to share with you.
{Oh and by the way, I went home with my cute little crochet purse and my mum was so jealous, she pulled out her hook and yarn and started making her own.Feels good to be an inspiration. By the way, she is so gooood}
I have been thinking about organizing my crochet hooks and supplies considering that they can get a little messy all over the house. Knitters and crocheters know what I mean. Once you pull that yarn and the other, and thus hook and the other, and then the thread and needle, it can get pretty messy.
So, I decided to make a small basket for my hooks and needles and some yarn.

I love it already and has been a huge help. Am even thinking of making a bigger one as soon as I get some beautiful yarn.

The Power to Create: Crochet Baby Hat

So, we all have an immense power inside ourselves.
Its the power to create things.
We are different, we have different desires..
We crave different things
But we all desire to create something beautiful…
This is why we begin projects, we treasure the..
We nurture them and when we see the finished product…..
WE SMILE
Create something and you will just find yourself smiling..

Today I want to share with you a small, little hat that I made for my newest nephew [Miguel]
I love how it turned out and just hope he loves it as much as I do…

Have a Lovely Wednesday!

Thank you is not enough

You know how I said I had started learning a new hobby??
Well, its become quite interesting as I go along.
I have pinned countless crochet projects that I hope to make in the future.
I have also managed to meet new bloggers who love crochet.
I can’t even begin to tell you how awesome this community is…
The new projects, the colorful yarn, the slight addictions…
I am so happy I started and hope to continue.
However, there is this one beautiful lady who has made my life as a crocheter tremendously easy.
When I told Libby that I was having trouble finding crochet hooks and yarn, she immediately offered to help.
She was so kind as to send me a package all the way to Kenya just to make my hobby easier.
I so much appreciate her kindness and I think that Thank you alone is not enough..
A whole post dedicated to her is what I could offer today and hope that this kindness is replicated throughout the blogosphere….

Here are the hooks and needles
This is the most beautiful yarn I’ve ever seen..The mix of colors is awesome
 Thread hooks
 More beautiful yarn
Yarn needles..God knows I needed those
 The yarn stash

She also sent me some magazine printouts for referral whenever I encounter a problem. How sweet is that. Am so thankful for all this and for Libby and her kind heart. Her Blog.
I spent the weekend working on some projects using the yarn she sent and I hope to show you what I made soon..

Crochet

So Yesterday, I promised I would let you in on my progress with my new hobby. I wish I could just express to you how good crocheting makes me feel.
Its just like am in another world. It calms me, makes me forget when I’ve had a bad day and just plainly-makes me feel good.
I hope you can tell that I love it.
Its been a few weeks now and I’ve been learning a lot. I’ve also been trying to find time, in the evenings and during weekends to find as much time as possible to crochet!
I wish you could all try it but I know that one man’s meat is another’s poison…
So lets see what I’ve been up to and please, be easy on me, am no pro….
1. I made this headband as a trial and I loved it so much. I didn’t even know how it would turn out but I still liked the finished product.

2. Then came this beanie/hat. I always wanted to make one for myself and I couldn’t resist. More red because its the first yarn color I bought.

3. Then came the obsession with baby hats. I cant stop making them. They are so easy and there are so many babies to gift them to. Some people actually want to buy them and I am excited by that thought, a little scared but excited nonetheless.

My teddy even tried one one…lol

Hope you like them as much as I do. I don’t know what it is, but I really like my new hobby! Any ideas, support, encouragement would be highly appreciated…

Weekend Update

Hi lovely people!!Its a new week and am loving it already. But not as much as I loved this weekend. This was a truly nice weekend and I only wish that every weekend could be like this one.
Saturday, I spent the morning doing laundry and the whole afternoon doing this:

Crochet {will fill you in as the week goes by}

and this:
Catching up on Royal Pains.

In the evening, I was really feeling like going dancing or doing something fun for the night. Little did I know that hubby and his friend had the exact plans.
So, at round 9.30 p.m, we all went out and had serious fun. I can’t begin to tell you how awesome that night was. We danced and made fun of ourselves and just had a good time.
Got home at around 5 in the morning and slept until 3 PM. I can’t tell you how that happened but seems like dancing is a recipe for lots of sleeping.
Then on Sunday evening, Manchester United won 3-2 against Chelsea which was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend.
This tree is kind of cute and very shapely too, (just outside where we live)

 Beautiful skies
This other tree is in full bloom, all flowery and cute
Hope you enjoyed your weekend and wishing you a fabulous week!

Loving Lately

So, how are you peeps??
I’ve not been here since Friday and am usually cool with that but damn!, I missed you people!
You have been so amazing to me and its hard to imagine a life without you.
Now that we have that out of the way…….my weekend was awesome!!
I went to visit my family as promised and I had a great time. Sorry there are no pics to support this.
We baked a cake for my sister on Saturday which was her birthday. It was so much fun.
We also helped Mama harvest tomatoes… fun but tiresome.
I came back on Sunday evening and Yesterday I had to travel to the capital (Nairobi) for some business and now am back.
Back and ready to share with you what am loving lately and what I’ve been up-to on the DIY side.
As I’ve said it a few times before this, I have taken up crocheting as a new hobby and I absolutely love it.
I’ve made a few things including a beanie and a headband for my niece Crystal .
I also made these hats at the beginning and have not yet decided who I will bless it with.

So, what do you think about my new hobby??Any encouragement, ideas, inspiration???
I would love to hear from you loves.

Loving Lately and More About Me

Hi lovely people!
I think am high, I feel like am numb, I feel sleepy, I feel crazy.
I have a stupid cold and I took some tablets yesterday night!
Problem is, those cold tablets usually make me feel like am drunk.
Anyway, if you have home remedies that can make me feel better and stop this menace, please do send them my way…..
Now, onto what am loving lately:
One thing…Crochet and more crochet. Am currently trying to learn as much as I can from YouTube and bloggers and I can say I am learning and I am loving it.
I hope to become an expert and make cute beanies like these ones. Will def keep you informed on my progress.
Next up is one of my favorite link-ups that happens once a month: Me, Myself & I.
1.What is your favorite season and why?
My favorite season would have to be fall. Yes, I know I’ve said it many times here that we don’t really have seasons here but we do have weather changes that reflect seasons. The cool yet kind of warm nature of fall fascinates me. It signifies change into something better and I love that.
2. Talk about a moment that changed your life
One moment??How can I pinpoint just one moment, it is difficult. But, I would say the day I started my first job. It signified that I was officially an adult and I had to take responsibility for my decisions.
3.If you could be one Crayola crayon color, what would you be and why?
I would be lemon yellow. This color signifies a joyful spirit that is still subtle and too screaming. I love it.
4.Describe yourself a superhero.Superpower?Name?Sidekick?
If I had a superpower, then it would have to healing people or restoring their energy. I believe good health is one of the most important things that we usually take for granted. I would love to help people feel better in an instant.
5.If you had all the money in the world and could only shop at 3 stores, where would you shop?
I don’t know about this one because I shop everywhere. I would have to say that I would go with handmade stuff especially on etsy or storenvy since I like to support crafts.

New Hobbies: Crocheting

I think am going crazy. I have these ideas floating in my head that I never get to implement.
There are things that I like doing or at-least think I like but never get to do them.
I don’t know why but the start of something is usually a hassle for me.
I find it hard to start something. I might want it so bad but unless I push myself or someone else pushes me, I might never start.
So, here I am with a new idea. Something that I have always admired from afar, especially from other bloggers. Crocheting. Is it weird that I think it is awesome. I mean you can crochet a whole dress or some cutesy little things……aaaaawwww. This idea made me realize that am totally like my mother…she used to crochet and knit things, a whole lot of beautiful things. I even have a sweater that she knitted for me long ago and I still wear it (She thought I would grow tall!lol!)
I think people who crochet or those who DIY in general are awesome. And, I really want to join this awesome crew. I hope I can do it.
I don’t even know where I can buy a crochet in this town let alone yarn. But, I promise I will find out and watch some tutorials and eventually start…….
Any tips?????Please help where you can. Any and all advice on starting DIY projects will be highly appreciated.
On that note, let us enjoy some of the crochet pins I have been pinning obsessively…
